Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks has been named the most trusted celebrity in the US by business publication Forbes. The Forrest Gump star topped a list of 1,500 celebrities ranked for supposed trustworthiness, beating TV star RACHAEL RAY and actor Michael J Fox to the honour. Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey was in fourth place followed by James Earl Jones, best known for being the voice of DARTH VADER in the Star Wars movies. The top ten was primarily made up of Hollywood stars, with Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, Reese Witherspoon and director Ron Howard making the grade. However, evolutionary psychologist SATOSHI KANAZAWA from the London School of Economics, believes the list indicates that the American public have a questionable concept of reality. He says, "Our brain doesn't understand that these are actors playing roles on a drama or sitcoms, and we act as if they are trusted friends."
