OSCAR winner Tom Hanks and his production partner Gary Goetzman have acted fast to secure the rights to retired secret agent W MARK FELT's life story just two weeks after he confessed he was the man who exposed America's Watergate scandal.

Felt revealed in a Vanity Fair article he was the man known as Deep Throat, who brought down former US President RICHARD NIXON in the early 1970s by informing WASHINGTON POST journalists of a political scandal.

Hanks' production company has already acquired movie rights from Felt, who recently closed a book deal, on which the film will be based.
