Tom Daley has signed up to present a new reality show called 'Splash!'.

The Olympic bronze medallist will provide expert advice to a host of celebrities on how to perform the perfect dive in a new 'Strictly Come Dancing' style TV show, dubbed ''spectacular and hilarious prime-time fun''.

Tom said it had been a ''wonderful 2012 ... What better way to round it off by becoming involved in this great new show; a dream come true for me - an entertainment show all about diving.

''I'll be helping the celebrities as they master a dangerous and exciting sport and I can't wait to get started.''

The new prime-time show will feature a panel of expert judges and the public will vote for their favourite celebrities each week after they perform a dive live on television in an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Elaine Bedell, ITV director of entertainment and comedy, added: '''Splash!' promises thrills, spills and a touch of comedy as famous faces take to the celebrity diving board.''

The format of the show originated in the Netherlands and the rights have already been bought by broadcasters in the US, France and Australia.

ITV1 bosses are hoping to cash in on the success of the London 2012 games by signing up 18-year-old hunk Tom to avoid the same fate as previous flops like 'Celebrity Wrestling' and 'Celebrity Shark Bait'.

Mark Borkowski, an entertainment PR and branding specialist, joked to The Guardian newspaper: ''It beggars belief, you can't make some of these things up...There was a lot of buzz after the Olympics, which generated all these contemporary icons, and arguably people do want to see more of Tom Daley on TV.''
