A small plane used by the crew on the set of the film Mena crashed in the Andes on Friday (11Sep15), People.com reports.

Cruise, who is a trained pilot, was not on board the plane at the time of the incident.

The twin-engine Aerostar ran into bad weather on after taking off from Santa Fe de Antioquia, and reports identify the two who died in the subsequent crash as American pilot Alan David Purwin and Colombian Carlos Berl. Jimmy Lee Garind, also from the U.S., is in hospital in Medellin with serious injuries.
