Tom Cruise wowed the crowds at the Dubai International Film Festival last night (07.12.11).

The 49-year-old actor opened the spectacle and took to the red carpet for the world premiere of his latest movie 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' - which sees him reprise his role of agent Ethan Hunt - and he was greeted by hundreds of fans with pictures of him and homemade 'We Love Tom' placards.

Tom - who stars alongside Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg in the film, which he finished filming in Dubai just over one year ago - spent more than an hour on the red carpet signing autographs for fans and posing for photographs.

He told English language newspaper The National: "The fun of doing movies like this is that I get to fulfil a dream of travelling the world.

"I was very excited to have the opportunity to film here. It's a beautiful and very cinematic city."

Among the attendees at the premiere were Paula Patton and Anil Kapoor, as well as Simon, who admitted he gets a bit worried about red carpet evenings.

He joked: "It's a little like extreme sports."
