Hollywood star Tom Cruise had studio bosses panicking when he contacted Lost creator Jj Abrams to direct the third MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. The position of director seemed cursed for M:I 3 when David Fincher dropped out, and then his replacement JOE CARNAHAN soon followed suit. When Cruise, who is also producing the film as well as reprising his role as ETHAN HUNT, asked the ALIAS creator to take charge, Paramount executives panicked over Abrams' lack of film experience. Cruise recalls, "This is JJ's first motion picture, when I said I would only work with JJ for M:I 3, the studio just s**t."
