Cheap Thrills Trailer

When Craig gets fired and receives an eviction notice informing him he has 7 days to pay up or he, his wife and his new baby are out of their apartment, he is desperate for some relief from his troubles. He agrees to go out for a drink with his best friend Vince but, along the way, they meet the excessively rich Colin and his young wife Violet who take them on to a strippers bar to continue their alcohol-fuelled wild night. Colin starts to play a game with them, offering increasingly large sums of money for the first person to agree to a daring act. It stars small, with the challenges being simply downing shots or touching strippers - tasks that Vince takes up with immediacy. Craig, desperate to win some cash to take care of his family, starts to join in, getting himself beat up by a doorman and even agreeing to cut his own pinky finger off. It soon becomes clear, however, that this sick couple have no boundaries in the challenges they are willing to suggest.

Drive Angry Review

OK
Less a fully realised thriller than a series of rampaging set pieces, this rollicking movie at least provides some goofy good fun for audiences, plus one terrific performance. Otherwise, it's just misogynistic carnage.

Milton (Cage) is on a mission to avenge the death of his daughter and rescue his grandchild from a charismatic satanic cult leader (Burke). But he's being tenaciously pursued by a man (Fichtner) who calls himself the Accountant and clearly has supernatural powers. Indeed, it turns out that Milton has escaped from hell, and the Accountant is here to bring him back. Although he rather enjoys causing chaos here on earth. Meanwhile, Milton teams up with Piper (Heard), mainly because she has a seriously hot car.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D Review

Very Good
When slasher films dominated the local theater chains way back in the '80s, holidays seemed to be the sensible starting place to develop your fear franchise. Halloween had proven profitable, and Friday the 13th definitely scared up big bucks. So why not milk the rest of the festival calendar and see what transpires? Sadly, for every April Fool's Day, there was a Happy Birthday to Me.

For a long time, a cult has centered around one of the era's most talked about titles: My Bloody Valentine. With most of its violence cut out and a "blue collar" perspective on the carnage, it remains for many a good time guilty pleasure. Now Lionsgate has seen fit to remake the movie, using an old '50s gimmick as a selling point -- and you know what, it works like a blood-spattered charm.

Jason X Review

Terrible
What would happen if you applied the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" to something that actually was broke. Would it miraculously fix itself? Apparently not, as Jason X - the latest installment in the long-running Friday the 13th series - hauls out once again all of the ridiculous elements that once decimated the franchise's credibility, only to produce an equally horrible sequel.

For starters, the film drops its descriptive Friday the 13th moniker, and in the process, forgets its roots. Ignoring the fact that hockey mask-sporting Jason Voorhees had his Final Chapter in 1984 or was banished to hell in 1993's The Final Friday, the new Jason X opens with the ruthless fiend (Kane Hodder) awaiting cryogenic treatment at the Crystal Lake Research Facility. Scientists interested in exploring Jason's ability to rapidly regenerate cell tissue delay the deep freeze just long enough for Voorhees to pull a Harry Houdini, though, and Jason promptly slaughters the entire egg-headed bunch. Take that, science! Only gorgeous Dr. Rowan (Lexa Doig) is spared, and while she's able to trap Jason in a cryogenic chamber, a leak in the equipment freezes her in the process. Ah, cryogenics - just another link in the long chain of similarities between Jason and entertainment czar Walt Disney. But I digress.
