British actress Tina Malone is pregnant after undergoing fertility treatment at the age of 50.
The Shameless star has announced she is in the very early stages of her pregnancy after she underwent in vitro fertilisation (Ivf) treatments with husband Paul Chase, who is 19 years her junior.
Confirming the news on U.K. Tv show This Morning, she says, "I am pregnant. We are delighted."
The pregnancy comes after Malone lost a staggering 154 pounds (69 kilograms), and the actress has defended her decision to have a baby in her 50s.
She adds, "I think it's important that I'm much more healthy than I was 20 years ago. I've had blood tests, we've had everything done. And physically, mentally, emotionally, and even financially... I'm better than I have been for 20 years. And I've got the best man or partner I could ever have.
"We realise it's early but it would just be so nice. But we are aware there can be pitfalls, we are only five weeks, and we're ready. The more relaxed you are with Ivf and the more positive you are the better."
Malone already has a grown-up daughter from a previous relationship.
