Comediennes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been appointed as guest editors of Entertainment Weekly, marking the first time celebrities have taken over the popular U.S. magazine.

The comedy duo, who will be hosting the Golden Globe awards for a second time in January (14), have overseen the upcoming issue, which hits newsstands on Friday (13Dec13).

Fey and Poehler took on most of the duties of the publication's editor-in-chief, as well as appearing on the cover and taking part in a question and answer session.

Penning the magazine's introductory piece, Letters from the Editors, they write, "Please enjoy how hard we have worked on this issue and how much love and care we put into it, even though we were told there would be no actual writing involved and then they sprang this Letters from the Editors thing on us."

The Saturday Night Live alums also commissioned features for the issue, including a story in which Mad Men's Jon Hamm recalls teaching Bridesmaids actress Ellie Kemper drama in high school.
