The Downton Abbey cast took Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series
30 Rock probably just about took the spoils in the TV categories of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, with both Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin taking gongs for their respective performances in the comedy; Downton Abbey took a major award in scooping Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and there was also a Lifetime Achievement Honor for Diagnosis Murder man Dick Van Dyke.

If over in the film categories, it was all about proving people wrong - as Ben Affleck's Argo did to the Oscars with an award in the Best Ensemble Performance category - then in TV land there was no such drama, with many of the strong favorites picking up their just rewards. Tina Fey's win capped a strong few weeks for the actress after she won hearts with a witty co-hosting turn at the Golden Globe Awards, alongside Amy Poehler. She won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Her counterpart Alec Baldwin took the male equivalent category meanwhile, proving that the much-loved 30 Rock is still among the very best in American comedy. It did have to yield in the Ensemble performance category however, with Modern Family taking the win in its place, making up for their Golden Globes disappointment when they missed out on any group awards.

For Claire Danes, her win in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series category, for Homeland, was further vindication that the star's return to the small screen following years in films has been an absolutely storming success. The actress, whose last seasonal role had been way back 1995 with My So-Called Life, looked delighted to be honored, continuing the acclaim she's received since starting Homeland in 2011.

And to top it all off, a delighted Dick Van Dyke received a Lifetime Honor, presented to him by Alec Baldwin. Van Dyke of course came to prominence opposite Julie Andrews in 1960's musical Mary Poppins, but he carved himself out a successful TV career in the 1970's, returning to prominence again in the 1990's with hospital detective show Diagnosis Murder.
