Country star Tim Mcgraw has been forced to abandon plans to stage his SWAMPSTOCK festival in Rayville, Louisiana, due to the threat of Hurricane Ivan.

The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday (19SEP04) in McGraw's hometown, and feature the singer, his wife Faith Hill, BIG + RICH and THE WARREN BROTHERS.

Organisers will consider rescheduling the event once Hurricane Ivan passes.

In a statement released this morning, McGraw says, "I regret that we have to postpone the show this year, but it's the right thing to do with the weather that's headed that way.

"My thoughts and prayers are with people of Louisiana as they prepare for the storm."

McGraw's festival isn't the only music event effected by the incoming storm - New Orleans, Louisiana's House Of Blues has been forced to cancel shows by My Morning Jacket and reggae greats TOOTS + THE MAYTALS.
