Tim Burton may have an impeccable eye for producing weird and wonderful films but when it comes down to spatial awareness, it would appear that he is somewhat lacking. At a recent press conference in Tokyo, to promote his latest movie Dark Shadows, the eccentric producer took a tumble off of the platform that he and Johnny Depp were standing on.
A video of the incident is hosted on The Telegraph's website today (May 14, 2012) and shows Burton waving enthusiastically to the gathered crowd, before he begins to fall backwards off the platform. Luckily for Tim, an eagle-eyed staff member spotted what was about to happen and caught him before he could hit the ground. The director looked shocked but unhurt and seemed to be smiling. Once he was back up the platform, Depp gave him a friendly hug as they seemed to share a laugh. Unfazed, Burton continued with the press conference.
Tim and Johnny have now collaborated on eight films together and chatting about their working partnership, Burton said "We both have a very similar approach to things in fact sometimes if Johnny has notes in his script I'll come in and talk to him and my notes are pretty much exactly the same without even speaking to him." Dark Shadows is based on the gothic soap opera of the same name, originally shown in the 1960s and '70s. Also starring in the film, which was released Friday (May 11, 2012) are Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer and CHLOE MORETZ.
