Tim Burton resents his forthcoming movie Charlie And The Chocolate Factory being labelled a remake -insisting it bypasses the 1971 original and goes straight back to the roots of the Roald Dahl novel.
The filmmaker wants the film, which stars Hollywood heart-throb JOHNNY DEPP as WILLY WONKA, to be considered a movie in its own right.
And he's convinced Dahl would approve - the author famously dismissed the 1971 version.
He says, "This is different to me.
"You can't stop people saying, 'It's a remake', but we're not remaking the movie - we're trying to go back to the roots of the book."14/07/2005 05:46
