Tim Allen, the American actor and comedian, is returning to US television in the new sitcom 'Last Man Standing'. Tim Allen's new show has been picked up by ABC and will be included on the network's prime-time fall schedule, according to the Washington Post.
Allen, whose family sitcom 'Home Improvement' became one of America's biggest shows in the 1990's, will play the owner of a sporting goods store in the new comedy. Although Allen's character is considered the 'king' at work, his home is under the strict leadership of wife Vanessa, played by 'Three Men and a Baby' star Nancy Travis. Announcing the new schedule in New York today (17th May 2011), Abc Entertainment President Paul Lee said, "We think the winds are really blowing behind comedy right now". The network hopes to shake-up its current prime-time listings with 13 new shows, including the sitcom 'Apartment 23' about two unlikely women rooming together in Manhattan. The network's returning comedies include the smash-hit sitcom 'Modern Family', and Courteney Cox's 'Cougar Town'.
Since 'Home Improvement', Tim Allen has appeared in a number of high-profile Hollywood movies, most notably the Toy Story trilogy in which he voices the character of 'Buzz Lightyear'. He recently finished filming Michelle Schumacher's forthcoming comedy 'Geezers', with J.K. SIMMONS and Basil Hoffman.
