Beloved US chat show host MIKE DOUGLAS has died of an undisclosed illness in Florida on his 81st birthday. The TV star, born MICHAEL DOWD, hosted his namesake show for 21 years until it was cancelled in 1982. The show featured regular celebrity guests and boasted the first TV appearance of golfer Tiger Woods as a child. As well as hosting his own show, Douglas also provided the singing voice for PRINCE CHARMING in Disney's Cinderella. He also enjoyed musical successes - he began his career as a vocalist with the KAY KYSER ORCHESTRA and had a solo pop chart hit in 1966 with THE MEN IN MY LITTLE GIRL'S LIFE. Douglas passed away earlier today (11AUG06).
