* SPEARS GRANTED ONE MORE NIGHT WITH KIDS LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS has been granted one overnight visit a week with her young sons after a crazy day in court in Los Angeles. The pop star's attorney, Anne Kiley, called an emergency hearing early on Thursday morning (11Oct07) to readdress her client's custody arrangement after she lost physical custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, a week ago. But Spears failed to show when Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon agreed to meet with attorneys representing the singer and her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Gordon sent the lawyers away, urging them to "work it out". Spears then arrived at the courthouse in a white convertible Mercedes-Benz early on Thursday afternoon - to face Commissioner Gordon herself in a closed-court meeting. According to court spokesperson Allan Parachini, her presence prompted the judge to modify his custody decision from last week (ends05Oct07). Parachini claims Spears was respectful when she spoke to the judge, who appeared to empathise with the young mum, stating, "This is a relationship of very young parents and little guy kids." Spears has now been granted a monitored overnight visit once a week with her children. Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, explained in court that he had initially fought a modification of the custody deal because Spears' legal team wanted last week's ruling completely reversed. He revealed the lawyers agreed on a new arrangement to give Spears more time with her sons in between the two court appearances on Thursday. Kiley then explained Spears' once-estranged mother Lynne could be interested in acting as a monitor for the overnight visits. Dressed in blue jeans, a long dark blue sweater and wearing aviator sunglasses, Spears revealed she had an eye infection and asked if she could keep her glasses on throughout the hearing. Her lawyer told the commissioner that Spears had stayed away from the morning hearing in a bid to avoid the media crush that surrounded the courthouse. The attorney growled, "Nobody should have even known about this hearing today." After the short meeting with the commissioner, Spears left the courthouse visibly distressed, and went shopping in nearby Beverly Hills. * SPEARS LOSES CUSTODY HEARING BATTLE LATEST: BRITNEY SPEARS has lost her bid to alter the conditions of her child custody arrangement, despite winning an emergency hearing in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (11Oct07). The troubled pop star failed to show up in court to face Commissioner Scott Gordon and ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, amid a confusion of media interest and misfiled paperwork. The court revealed early Thursday morning that paperwork had not been filed properly and, as a result, the hearing had not been scheduled, but Gordon agreed to meet with the parties, reportedly telling them to "go and get a cup of coffee and work it out". In her absence, Spears' lawyers had asked Commissioner Scott Gordon for overnights, partly because she's passed all her drug tests. Kaplan fought a new ruling, claiming the custody order is only one week old. Commissioner Gordon refused to reverse the decision he made a week ago when he gave Federline physical custody of his kids, set the custody parameters and demanded Spears undergo a series of random drug and alcohol tests. Meanwhile, Thursday's court hearing wasn't the only thing Spears missed - she also failed to show for a scheduled audition, leaving 50 dancers standing outside the Millennium Dance Studio in North Hollywood. Spears was expected to check out the dancers for upcoming appearances and dates. The auditions will be rescheduled. As WENN went to press Spears had mysteriously just turned up at court - hours after her attorney's impromptu hearing had taken place. The singer drove to court in her white convertible Mercedes Benz and refused to get out of her car until all paparazzi crowding the entrance were cleared. Camera-shy Britney was then directed to an underground parking garage. She again refused to step out of her vehicle when she spotted a persistent photographer waiting to take a snapshot of her. She only agreed to leave her car when the snapper had taken off his camera and placed it on the floor by his feet. (KL/WN&WNWCMZ/GES) Los Angeles, California - 11.10.07

* SPEARS & FEDERLINE MUST ATTEND COUNSELLING TOGETHER LATEST: A judge has ordered BRITNEY SPEARS to complete three joint counselling sessions with her ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE before their next child custody hearing on 26 October (07). Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon also ruled that Spears must abide to strict drug testing regulations or her monitored visitation privileges with her two children will be taken away. Spears lost physical custody of her sons after reportedly ignoring a string of court-imposed demands and skipping mandatory drug tests. The further details of Wednesday's (03Oct07) temporary ruling - at which Federline was told he'll retain custody of Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one - were revealed in court documents released on Thursday (04Oct07). Gordon said that "a missed (drug) test, refusal to submit to a test, or failure to respond to the testing agency's call... shall be deemed by the court as a failed test." At the closed hearing, the judge added that a court-imposed monitor "shall terminate visitation immediately if any conduct or action by (Spears) endangers the minor children." Spears must also attend three individual counselling meetings before the 26 October (07) hearing. * SIMPSON CHARGED OVER MEMORABILIA RAID LATEST: O.J. SIMPSON has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in Las Vegas on Thursday night (13Sep07). The former American football star reportedly raided a suite at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, pretending to be part of a group interested in buying memorabilia items from collector Alfred Beardsley. These items included the suit Simpson wore when he was acquitted of the double murder of his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. At a press conference late on Sunday afternoon (16Sep07), Las Vegas Police Captain James Dillon told reporters Simpson faces charges on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm. Simpson was arrested in his room at the Palms Hotel in Last Vegas earlier on Sunday, and was taken to a nearby police station. Hours later, during the press conference, Simpson was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, and was said to be co-operative during his arrest. Another man, Walter Alexander, a longtime friend of Simpson, was also arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the alleged raid. He was released on bail early on Sunday. Police have also confirmed they have seized two guns they believe were used in the alleged robbery. Four men are still being sought in connection with the incident. * O.J. SIMPSON ARRESTED O.J. SIMPSON has been arrested in Las Vegas in connection with a reported armed robbery on Thursday night (13Sep07). Police insiders suggest the former football star-turned-actor faces charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery and armed robbery with a deadly weapon. The arrest comes as Alfred Bearsdley, the victim of the sports memorabilia raid attempts to clear Simpson's name by claiming the star was "duped" into believing a stash of his memorabilia was to be illegally sold. Simpson and five associates raided Beardsley's suite at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, pretending to be part of a group interested in buying the memorabilia items, which included the suit the Naked Gun star wore when he was acquitted of the double murder of his wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. The memorabilia collector/broker claims weapons were brandished at the scene and he and a partner were forced to hand over all the memorabilia they had in the suite at gunpoint. Beardsley initially went on the attack, claiming Simpson "took control" of the raid, but now he accepts the fallen actor was duped by another memorabilia collector, Thomas Riccio, who let him and his associates into the suite, where the robbery took place. Beardsley, who has been transferred from the Palace Station to the Hard Rock Hotel, where he's staying as a guest of entertainer Jeff Beacher, says, "O.J. didn't do anything wrong. He was actually kind of duped. "Thomas Riccio told him that we were gonna have thousands of photographs there, personal family photographs of the Simpson family, and it was never intended to be there. "They (Simpson and associates) couldn't find the room.... They call Riccio on his cellphone and Riccio told them, `Stay put, I'll come and get you.' He walked them all through the front door." Beardsley reveals he and Simpson have spoken about the "misunderstanding" and he claims the star has apologised for his actions. At a press conference on Friday (14Sep07), Las Vegas police confirmed Simpson was helping them with their investigation into the robbery. Another man, Walter Alexander, a longtime friend of Simpson, has also been arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the alleged raid. He was released on bail early on Sunday (16Sep07). Police have also confirmed they have seized two guns they believe were used in the alleged robbery. Under Nevada law, Simpson faces as much as 30 years in jail if he's found guilty of armed robbery. He maintains he did nothing wrong, and was simply reclaiming sports memorabilia that belonged to him. (KL/WN&WNV) O.J.
