Film star Thomas Jane was so impoverished as a young man desperately seeking big screen success in Hollywood, he used to busk to make his money.

The DEEP BLUE SEA actor didn't have any means of financial help, friends or family when he moved to Los Angeles from Baltimore, Maryland, at the tender age of 18 - so he took the streets with his guitar and entertained passing members of the public.

Jane says, "I knew no-one and I had no money. I lived in a welfare hotel and food stamps were all that kept me going.

"I played guitar on the streets to make some cash. If I hadn't had a good day, I'd live out of trash cans. I slept on the streets for a while."
