Bespectacled SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE hitmaker Thomas Dolby is planning his first dates in 15 years. The electronic pop pioneer quit the music business at the beginning of the 1990s to become an internet entrepreneur - the company he founded, Beatnik Inc, has become the world's top provider of ringtone technology, operating in over 500 million mobile phones. His two decades of innovations in the area of computer music and software have greatly impacted today's popular sound. Dolby, who is married to actress Kathleen Beller, will hit the road in the US and plans to thrill fans by performing with vintage 1940s oscilloscopes and ex-Royal Navy field test equipment. He is looking forward to getting back on the road: "I feel like Austin Powers waking up in a brand new decade - many of the ideas I talked about 15 years ago are becoming a reality. "Amazingly, fans online are still talking about my music and how it's influenced today's electronica. So I'm bringing my live show back to the stage, blending fresh ideas with the original material; and I'll be adding a few new songs into the mix too. "You'll feel like you're peeking into a demented ham radio operator's secret garden shed." Dolby's tour kicks off in Anaheim, California, next month (APR06).
