The Third Day of the battle between NBC's Today show and ABC's Good Morning America with Katie Couric as co-host ended in a draw. On Wednesday, GMA drew slightly more total viewers -- 87,000 -- but Today drew far more viewers -- 319,000 -- in the 25-54 age group, the demo that advertisers prefer. It may have been helped by the appearance of Ryan Seacrest on the show to make his highly promoted "important announcement." (He revealed that he would be contributing to NBC's coverage of the Olympics.) Ratings were not available this morning (Friday) for Thursday's broadcasts. This morning GMA started off with a highlights reel of Couric's features earlier in the week in which she appeared as her old perky self from The Days when she co-hosted the Today show. (She had seemed to make a deliberate effort to divorce herself from that persona when she became the anchor of the CBS Evening News in 2006.)
