Calling Festival Wolf Alice Modest Mouse Noel Gallagher Ryan Adams The Hives Echo And The Bunnymen

Modest Mouse and Wolf Alice are the latest additions to the steadily growing line-up for Calling Festival 2015; a day festival that will see thousands flock to Clapham Common in London this summer to experience the latest and greatest in rock music.

Washington six-piece Modest Mouse and North Londoners Wolf Alice hit the Calling bill alongside the likes of headliners Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, and previously announced Ryan Adams and the Shining, The Hives, and Echo And The Bunnymen. The multi-stage festival is still to see further exciting line-up announcements in the coming weeks; the bill so far barely scrapes the surface of what to expect at this extraordinary event, which last year played host to more than 80,000 festival goers who congregated to experience Stevie Wonder and Aerosmith.

Made In America Trailer

Made in America Festival is an annual music event founded by rapper and businessman Jay-Z in 2012. Following its inaugural year, it was announced to take place in Los Angeles for the later events and its arrival has since become an important symbol of unity. Jay-Z created the festival in a bid to join together musicians of all genres, creeds and cultures to emphasise the bond between music-lovers regardless of any animosity that may have existed between hip hop artists, rock artists and pop artists in the past. It is an attempt to build a world of peace and diversity because, in the words of Run DMC star Darryl McDaniels, 'Music succeeds where politics and religion fail'.

'Made In America' is a music documentary based on the new festival of the same name founded by Jay-Z who is also the movie's executive producer. It has been directed by double Oscar winner Ron Howard ('The Da Vinci Code', 'Apollo 13', 'Rush', 'A Beautiful Mind') and features behind-the-scenes clips and interviews of various music superstars including Run DMC, Rita Ora, Kanye West, Janelle Monáe, Tyler The Creator, Skrillex, Santigold and The Hives. The film premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for 'Outstanding Television Documentary' at the Black Reel Awards.

Made In America is available on VOD and DVD 19 May 2014

Triumphant Homecoming Tour Continues For The Hives (Pictures)

The Hives playing in Gothenburg

The Hives stormed home soil in Gothenburg on Friday (January 25, 2013)

The Hives have gone from being cool to uncool and back to cool again so many times that it's hard to keep track of the Swedish party punk group's profile; at the moment though it seems like Pelle Enqvist and his madcap charges are very much enjoying a renaissance, with the group receiving plaudits all over the shop for their recent jaunt to the UK at the end of last year. Back in their native Sweden on Friday night (January 25, 2013), it looked like the boys were more than happy to be honest, electrifying a packed crowd with a set that drew from their entire career.

The Hives, Lex Hives Album Review

Sweden's answer to The Stooges have returned with album number five. Despite an elongated hiatus caused by endless touring and a split from Universal, little has changed in the last five years for The Hives. Howlin' Pelle Almqvist is still front and centre in the smartly dressed quintet, the songs seldom last much beyond 3 minutes and there's still a not unwelcome stench of nostalgia about the finished product. It's reassuring to know that they're consistent, but it's also a record unlikely to register on the radar of anyone but a devoted follower of the band.

The Hives - Nicholaus Arson Interview - Contactmusic Qs

Contactmusic hooked up with Sweden's best dressed band. To find out what makes their new record Tyrannosaurus Hives buzz.

Q1. Your new album Tyrannosaurus Hives can be described as rawer and defying the commercial sound that many thought your debut album for a major label would provide. Do you agree with this assessment?

Nicholaus Arson - Yeah some people hear it that way. Others think that it is more polished than previously and thats really what we
were going for. We wanted it to be cleaner but still sound dangerous in a way. When we started recording though we missed some of the energy that was in the old dirtier sound so we kind of combined the two leaning more though in our opinion to the cleaner more machinelike sound that we were striving for initially.
