Shy rockers The XX have no plans to embrace the spotlight following their Mercury Prize win - the band wants to disappear for a year to record another album.
The London trio has already seen sales of their debut record, xx, skyrocket since winning the coveted honour on Tuesday (07Sep10) - but singer Romy Madley Croft reveals they're desperate to escape the attention.
She says, "I'm terrified. I've been scared by the whole thing. We've been touring since we were nominated so we haven't had time to deal with too much attention.
"We never rush anything and definitely don't want to rush the second album. We've found that we can't write while we're on tour and we don't finish until mid-October. Then next year we'll disappear and write a lot."
