The X Factor finalist Laura White has been voted off the show, despite being tipped to win the competition.
The 21-year-old performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow in the sing-off with Ruth Lorenzo.
However, she lost the battle to stay after three judges Louis Walsh, Danii Minogue and Simon Cowell voted to save Lorenzo.
Only Cheryl Cole, White's mentor, chose to keep her in the competition.
Simon said: "You were not the worst two singers tonight so I don't know what went wrong. Both of you sung your hearts out just then. I like both girls."
After Simon chose White to go, Danii saved her contestant Lorenzo. Cheryl opted to save White, but Louis had the deciding vote and sent White home.
"It's an incredible standard. I like both girls," he said.
Another of Cheryl's contestants, 17-year-old Diana Vickers, did not sing on the Mariah Carey-themed show as she had laryngitis and was advised by doctors not to perform.
