The hip-hop version of classical musical The Wizard of Oz is set to return to the stage with funnymen Wayne Brady and David Alan Grier in lead roles. Top US impresario Des McAnuff has re-imagined the Tony Award-winning classic, The Wiz, which was a cult film starring Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. In the new version of the musical, which will debut in September (06) in San Diego, California, Brady will play THE SCARECROW and former IN LIVING COLOR star Grier will play the title character. Newcomer NIKKI JAMES will play DOROTHY.
The video also features an appearance from model Tyson Beckford and ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett.
