The My Generation hitmakers had already cancelled four concerts on their 50th anniversary tour, which had been due to begin this week (ends18Sep15), after Daltrey contracted viral meningitis.

The band had hoped to continue the trek after Daltrey recovered from the illness, but although the singer is reportedly feeling better, he is under doctor's orders to rest and the tour has been temporarily shut down.

A statement on the band's website from Daltrey states, "We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way. For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover. The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year."

The band now hope to reschedule the tour for spring next year (16).
