'The Walking Dead' Studio AMC Facing Lawsuit Following Stuntman's Death On Set

The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' has faced a run of unfortunate circumstances throughout the past 12 months or so, even seeing the death of stuntman John Bernecker on their set when he was filming scenes for the AMC show. Sustaining a serious head injury after falling 30 feet onto a concrete floor, Bernecker didn't immediately die, but was immediately ruled dead due to "accidental blunt force trauma".

Though this happened months ago, it would seem it's a case that could haunt AMC for the months to come, as Bernecker's family aren't happy with the way in which the veteran stuntman worked during his time on 'The Walking Dead'.

'The Walking Dead' Director Greg Nicotero Cried During Season 8's Midseason Premiere

The Walking Dead

When 'The Walking Dead' season 8 went on a break at the end of last year, the show didn't leave without dealing one of its biggest blows to viewers of all time. With the reveal of a zombie bite on the abdomen of main character Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), it quickly became clear that Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) son wasn't going to last very much longer on the show. Deviating from the Robert Kirkman comic books and the story they've told, it wasn't something that anybody saw coming.

Whilst a vocal portion of the show's fan base rebelled against the decision and even set up an online petition to call for the sacking of showrunner Scott Gimple, the move is one that writers will likely see pay off in future episodes. In fact, the midseason premiere that's set to air this February and bring the series back from its winter break will waste no time in doing just that.

'The Walking Dead' Renewed For Ninth Season With New Showrunner

The Walking Dead

In some unsurprising news, 'The Walking Dead' has been renewed for a ninth season at AMC. Though it's something the majority of viewers expected, there are some big changes happening behind-the-scenes that nobody predicted, with current showrunner Scott Gimple moving from his role on the series to the new one of Chief Content Officer for the 'Walking Dead' franchise. This includes spin-off show 'Fear The Walking Dead' and any other extensions of the series that may happen in the future.

That means there's a position for a new showrunner during the ninth season, and that's something writer Angela Kang will be stepping into. As a writer on the show since 2011, Kang picked up a co-executive producer role in 2013, and again now expands on her work for the series.

Robert Kirkman Defends Decision To Kill Off Carl In 'The Walking Dead'

The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' once again saw huge controversy in its season 8 midseason finale, when longrunning character Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) showed off a zombie bite on his abdomen, signalling his time on the series coming to an end. Though he hadn't succumbed fully to the wound by the end of the midseason episode, it was confirmed that there is no way to save Carl, and he would be dying in the very near future when the series made its return.

The decision - made by showrunner Scott Gimple - was one that set a very vocal portion of the fan base into a rampage, even setting up an online petition demanding that Gimple was sacked from the entire franchise. Of course, AMC and those working behind-the-scenes stood alongside Gimple, not warranting the survey with any sort of official response.

'The Walking Dead' Executive Producer Addresses Season 8's Declining Viewership

The Walking Dead

Though it's delivering some of the biggest twists and turns the show has ever seen, AMC's zombie apocalypse series 'The Walking Dead' is still suffering from declining ratings in America, with numbers going down week on week and the action-packed episodes failing to bring the high ratings of seasons gone by back to the network.

Now, don't get us wrong, 'The Walking Dead' is still one of the most successful shows on television, but when it averaged an incredible 18 million viewers back in season 6, but went into a midseason finale with just 12.13 million total viewers in the current eighth season, there's something not quite right.

'The Walking Dead' Fans Sign Petition Calling For Scott Gimple To Be Fired

The Walking Dead

The season 8 midseason finale of 'The Walking Dead' earlier this month saw a huge twist in the story, deviating wildly from the comic books on which the show is based once more in a move that nobody saw coming.

It was an episode that saw a number of big moments, but one in particular - and, if you've not yet seen the episode, turn back now - saw Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) reveal a zombie bite to his abdomen, signalling that he would be leaving the series in the near future.

Was Latest Zombie Victim On 'The Walking Dead' Fired?

The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' went through one of its biggest changes to-date during the midseason finale of season 8, with one leading character clearly written out of the future of the show because of a zombie bite to their abdomen. It was a move that nobody saw coming and a clear deviation from the path of the comic book series, in which the character still exists to this day.

The character we're talking about is Carl Grimes, played in the series since the very start by young actor Chandler Riggs who, in June of this year celebrated his 18th birthday. Carl has never been a fan-favourite character who appeals to the masses in the show, but viewers were beginning to think he may one day take over as leader of the survivors in the series, placing their bets on Andrew Lincoln's character and Carl's father Rick dying, rather than his son.

'The Walking Dead' Changes Forever With Zombie Bite In Season 8's Midseason Finale

The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' will be going through one of the biggest shifts in the shows history, it's been revealed, as a major character was revealed to have been bitten by a zombie, which will surely bring their time on the show to a screeching halt in the very near future.

'The Walking Dead' Actor On How He Wants His Character To Die

The Walking Dead

When Josh McDermitt first made an appearance in 'The Walking Dead' as the rambling and socially awkward Eugene Porter, many fans felt sorry for the character. Now though, having left Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group of survivors and now working under Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) alongside The Saviors, it's hardy to find sympathy for the man who has consistently sold his friends down the river.

In the future, it's clear that Eugene will eventually succumb to the zombie apocalypse taking over the land. Whether he's killed off by a zombie or a fellow survivor of the traumatic event remains to be seen, but it doesn't seem likely that there's end-game for the character.

'The Walking Dead' Crossover Character To Be Revealed On Sunday

The Walking Dead

Earlier this year, 'The Walking Dead' creator Robert Kirkman announced that a character from either the original television series or its sister show, 'Fear The Walking Dead' would be crossing over to the other series in an undisclosed capacity. Though the rumours had in the past come thick and fast surrounding a crossover, the idea was always shut down by show bosses, so it came as somewhat of a surprise when Kirkman revealed that a crossover would indeed be going ahead.

Exactly which character and from which show will be making the jump remains to be seen, but the reveal is something that's now right around the corner. In fact, AMC announced that the unveiling would be taking place on this week's edition of 'Talking Dead' on their Twitter account, in a message you can see below:

'The Walking Dead' Season 8's Midseason Finale Gets Extended Runtime

The Walking Dead

Fans of 'The Walking Dead' have been treated to three action-packed episodes of the series since the show's eighth season debuted in October, and it looks as if that's something that will continue into the foreseeable future, as showrunners have had to nearly double the running time of this season's upcoming midseason finale.

Usually, episodes will last around 42 minutes, but instead of that usual hour (including adverts), the midseason finale will be 88 minutes in the United States, including adverts. We imagine the reasoning behind the added time will be revealed in due course, but in the past midseason finales have included many twists, turns, deaths and a lot of destruction. With 'All Out War' taking place between Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) band of survivors and Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) loyal group of Saviors, that's something we imagine will crop up once more.

Gregory Returns To The Hilltop In 'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Preview Clip

The Walking Dead

When it comes to 'The Walking Dead', the fan base can certainly agree on one thing - Gregory (Xander Berkeley) is a weasel. Having left Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) for dead in the season 8 premiere of the AMC zombie apocalyptic series, stealing his car in the process and driving away from the chaotic scene, many wondered just where he'd end up. Now, fans can see that he's made his return to the Hilltop with his tail between his legs, begging for sanctuary from Maggie and the rest of the survivors that are housed there. You can check out the clip below:

From the preview, it's clear that Gregory expects Father Gabriel to be dead, as he instantly lies about his whereabouts, claiming he doesn't know what happened to the survivor. Whilst that could be the case, we last saw Gabriel locked up in a trailer with none other than the villainous Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who pretty much told him he could expect a rough ride from here on out.

Tom Payne On Jesus Giving Mercy In 'The Walking Dead'

Tom Payne The Walking Dead

In 'The Walking Dead' this week, fans were shocked to see Jesus take the chance to allow a member of the Saviors to live, after he and Tara caught him in a back room with a gun, but he surrendered and had his hands in the air instead of fighting back. Though Tara still wanted to leave him dead, Jesus said that he wouldn't allow a defenceless man to be shot in cold blood, only for him to then disarm Jesus and put a gun to his head, leaving Tara in quite the predicament.

Fortunately, Jesus' skills when it comes to fighting meant that he was able to lure the Savior into a false sense of security, disarming him back but once again, not allowing Tara to kill him. Taking him as a prisoner of war, he and Tara exchanged some heated words, but in the end it was Jesus' way that was followed.

'The Walking Dead' Producer Addresses Speculation Surrounding Planned Crossover

The Walking Dead

Earlier this year, it was revealed that 'The Walking Dead' and sister series 'Fear The Walking Dead' would finally be crossing over at some point in the near future. Taking place in the same universe, but at separate points in time, it may be a little tricky for showrunners to work out exactly how they'll do the crossover.

Creator Robert Kirkman confirmed the news at New York Comic Con, though he wouldn't reveal just which character would be making the move from one show to the other. A popular theory suggested that it would be Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) who made the jump to 'Fear', as the show takes place before his death and will be moving in location to Houston.

Telltale Games' 'Walking Dead' Characters Won't Appear In Television Series

The Walking Dead

Without a doubt one of Telltale Games' most prominent and inspired projects, the video game version of 'The Walking Dead' was first brought to players in 2012. Introducing a barrage of new faces that haven't been a part of the comic book series or the television show, exciting and fresh stories have been told through the Telltale releases, that have dropped in a sequence of 'seasons'.

'The Walking Dead' And 'Fear The Walking Dead' Crossover Confirmed

The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' is for many one of the best shows on television. When it was announced a sister show would be coming in the form of 'Fear The Walking Dead', expectation was high and, for the majority of those watching, the new series impressed just as much as the original.

Ever since the prequel series was revealed, fans mused over the possibility of a crossover, but all of the head honchos behind-the-scenes have repeatedly shot the idea down and said it would prove too difficult to ever pull off.

'The Walking Dead' Producer Excited To See Jon Bernthal In Marvel's 'The Punisher'

The Walking Dead

When 'The Walking Dead' first made its way to the small screen, Jon Bernthal was one of the integral pieces of making the show a success, playing Rick Grimes' (Andrew Lincoln) best friend Shane Walsh. Unfortunately, his character wasn't long for the zombie-infested world, but Bernthal has since continued to make a name for himself in a number of big projects.
