The Veronicas star Jessica Origliasso has heaped praise on officials in her native Queensland, Australia after they passed a bill recognising same-sex civil unions.
Origliasso is a keen supporter of gay rights and she's delighted Deputy Premier of the state, Andrew Fraser, approved The Civil Partnerships Bill.
In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Proud that my home state of Queensland Australia, passed a bill over night that allows same sex civil union!
"A wonderful step in the right direction! Hopefully it won't be much longer till we have Gay Marriage recognised in the same light."
The bill allows same-sex couples to register their union with the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
