Manchester pop duo The Ting Tings have been nominated for video of the year at the MTV Music Video Awards.

The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on September 7th and are due to be hosted by British comic Russell Brand.

The Ting Tings, nominated for their video Shut Up and Let Me Go, will be up against US artists Britney Spears, Chris Brown, the Jonas Brothers and the Pussycat Dolls.

It is the second nomination for the British band. They are also named in the best UK video category along with Coldplay, Estelle, Leona Lewis and Duffy.

Britney is nominated three times this year, for best pop video and best female video, for her single Piece of Me.

The nominees in the best rock video category were also announced today.

Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Slipknot, Linkin Park and Foo Fighters are all up for the award.
