The upcoming Three Stooges movie from the Farelly Brothers, Peter and Bobby, has received an endorsement from Deadline.com columnist Mike Fleming, who wrote a biography about The Stooges ( The Three Stooges An Illustrated History, From Amalgamated Morons to American Icons ) in 2002. Fleming wrote on Tuesday that he "laughed hard and often" and "was surprised they managed to keep things civil enough for a PG that opens the door to the same young age group that saved Stooges shorts from obscurity when they aired afternoons on TV in the 60s." Nevertheless, he acknowledged, "I can't for the life of me predict how this movie will fare when Fox releases it April 13." In an interview with Fleming, Peter Farelly acknowledged that he and his brother had courted several big stars to play the roles of the Stooges in their movie. "But we couldn't get anybody!" he remarked. "People were scared to death to do this movie because of the criticism you see all over the Internet [that a Stooges movie is sacrilegious] and also because we were clear on one thing. We said, 'You're not doing a version of Moe, Larry or Curly. You're doing Moe, Larry and Curly, on the nose.'"
