Fans of The Shawshank Redemption are hoping to lure the movie's stars Morgan Freeman and Bob Gunton to a special 20th anniversary event in the city where the classic film was shot.
The multi-Oscar nominated prison drama was mainly filmed at various locations in and around Mansfield, Ohio, and local residents are proud of their association with the movie.
They are planning a special celebration next year (13) to mark 20 years since the film was shot, and they have extended invitations to Freeman, who played jail 'fixer' Red, and Gunton, the prison's Warden Norton.
Event organiser Bill Mullen tells MansfieldNewsJournal.com having Gunton attend will be a special honour, adding, "We're hoping he will attend the reunion. He responded the first time about coming to the 2008 Shawshank reunion, but there was a writers' strike and it delayed the series he was in so he couldn't make it."
