The Rifles' new single, Sweetest Thing, will be released on January 16th 2012. It is the second single from their third album Freedom Run, following on from lead single Tangled Up In Love, which was released in August 2011. Freedom Run was released on September 19th 2011 through ATC Management.
The Rifles, formed in 2004, are Joel Stoker (vocals, guitar), Lucas Crowther (guitar, vocals), Lee Burgess (bass guitar), Kenton Shinn (drums, percussion), and Dean Mumford (keyboard). Their debut album, No Love Lost, was released in April 2006 and reached number 26 in the UK Album Charts. Their second album, Great Escape, was recorded in The Kinks' studio, called Konk Studios. The studios have also been used by fellow indie band The Kooks, who named their third album after it. Great Escape received positive reviews from critics.
Freedom Run was produced by Chris Potter, who has produced albums for the likes of The Verve; The Clash and The Stones. Their recent single, Sweetest Thing, features Paul Weller on guitars; the band used his studio to record their album.
