British boy band The Overtones were caught up in a flight scare recently when their plane almost crash landed.

The doo-wop stars headed to London from Scotland for a performance, but the windy weather made it almost impossible for the pilot to land the aircraft at the U.K. capital's Heathrow Airport.

They were subsequently diverted to London's Gatwick, and the group took the train to its final destination.

Singer Lachie Chapman tells Britain's Daily Star Sunday, "We had two failed landings about 50 metres from the ground. The wind was so strong it nearly pushed us off the runway.

"We had to abort twice before landing at Gatwick. Then they wanted to fly us back to Heathrow and try again but we weren't having any of it. We got off and took the train."
