Of all the regular TV shows broadcast this year, none was more talked about on the Internet than Oprah Winfrey's final telecast last week. According to Long Island-based research firm General Sentiment, the final episode of THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW generated more online discussion even than the finale of American Idol earlier in the week. In fact, when it comes to the "raw volume" of all topics under discussion on the Web, only the killing of Osama Bin Laden, the Royal Wedding, the Super Bowl and The Oscars -- in that order -- prompted more discussion on Facebook, Twitter, blog posts, news sites, etc. General Sentiment also produces a separate "involvement index" that zeros in on the audience's actual interest in a subject. By that measure, the royal wedding was No. 1 for the year and the Idol finale ranked No. 5, just ahead of the Oprah finale.
