The Mitchell Brothers feat. Sway - Harvey Nicks - Single Review
The Mitchell Brothers
feat. Sway
Harvey Nicks
Fresh from the success of ‘Routine Check’ The Mitchell Brothers release their next single ‘Harvey Nicks’ on Mike Skinner’s (The Streets) label The Beats. The unique style of Skinner is evident on this track who produces, arranges and mixes the music. It has a street grunge vibe, completely in the urban style though, that is eclectic, progressive and utterly British. The social rhetoric is cleverly performed by The Mitchell
Brothers. It shows social problems within Britain and highlights the prejudice at the retail chain Harvey Nicks. Sway features on this track who makes a thoroughbred delivery that shows comic genius and intelligent wordplay. To me ‘Harvey Nicks’ doesn’t have the street edge that I really appreciated in ‘Routine Check’ however it certainly shows blatant originality that will appeal to progressive heads and the youth. I think the Mitchell Brothers are a class act that show poetic irony in a humorous yet serious way and the music is from one of Britain’s best. Another winning hip hop formula.
