The Libertines were forced to halt their festival set for the second night in a row on Saturday (28Aug10) - when several revellers got crushed and trampled during the frenetic performance.
The cult British band reformed this year (10) after six years to play at the Reading and Leeds festivals in England this weekend (27-29Aug10), and they briefly stopped their show at the Leeds leg on Friday (27Aug10) over concerns for the safety of fans.
Their set at Reading on Saturday pulled in a crowd of 80,000 - but the band was forced to leave the stage for several minutes midway through their set amid fears fans were being crushed.
Frontmen Pete Doherty and Carl Barat cut short their hit Time for Heroes 45 minutes into the performance and left the stage, with Barat telling the crowd: "Some people are getting crushed down the front. Can you move back a little bit?"
When they returned, the band finished the set and Doherty and Barat embraced before bassist John Hassall and drummer Gary Powell joined them to take a bow.
The Libertines have told fans they are considering a permanent reunion and are expected to make an announcement about their future this week (begs30Aug10).
