The Killers could release three albums over the next year because they have turned into such prolific songwriters - but their touring commitments won't allow the rockers enough studio time to produce so many discs.

The SOMEBODY TOLD ME hitmakers would love to work in the kind of musical environment which existed in the 1960s - when even big bands were expected to release a new album every year - but modern commitments have forced them to delay their follow up to chart-topping debut HOT FUSS.

Frontman BRANDON FLOWERS says, "When you're prolific you should put it out. In the 1960s and 1970s, it was sometimes three albums a year for people. That would be ideal for us, since we love to write and play new stuff, but that's just not how it is anymore.

"So it'll be a good year-and-a-half between records, but the sooner the better. We want to stick around and give people good things to listen to."
