The Jesus And Mary Chain are hitting the road once again this Spring with a series of North American tour dates to follow up the release of their extremely long-awaited seventh studio album 'Damage and Joy'. Tickets will be on sale this week.

The Jesus and Mary ChainThe Jesus and Mary Chain are returning for a North American tour

The band - fronted by Jim and William Reid - will begin their tour at The Palace in St. Paul, Minnesota on May 9th 2017, before hitting cities the likes of Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland and Seattle, and concluding at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver on May 24th. These shows will mark the first performances of several of the tracks from the new album.

'Damage and Joy' is the follow up to The Jesus and Mary Chain's 1998 album 'Munki' which was their first and only release on Creation Records. The new record has been produced by Youth (Killing Joke) and has been in progress since 2015; the same year as their 'Psychocandy' 30th anniversary world tour.

'The interesting thing about this record is what comes out of the speakers', said Jim. 'To make a good record is an achievement if you're twenty-two, but to do it in your fifties, the way we are, I think is a minor miracle.'

The album features the soaring 'Amputation', with its scuzzy distorted guitar and drawn-out vocals, which will be available as an instant download on all pre-orders of the album. The meaning behind the song is that of 'being edited out of the whole music business'. 'I felt like a rock 'n' roll amputation', Jim added. Also on the record is a new version of 'All Things Must Pass' from the show 'Heroes' and the compilation 'Upside Down: The Best of The Jesus and Mary Chain'.

'Damage and Joy' is set to be released through ADA and Warner Music on March 24h 2017.
