The latest installment in The Fast And The Furious franchise has zoomed to the top of the U.K. box office, debuting with takings of $13.5 million (£8.7 million).
Fast & Furious 6, starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, took more than twice as much as its nearest competitor, The Great Gatsby, which pulled in $6.4 million (£4.1 million) over the weekend (18-19May13).
Sci-fi epic Star Trek Into Darkness was in third place after grossing $5.7 million (£3.7 million) in ticket sales, bringing its total U.K. earnings to an impressive $24 million (£15.6 million) since its debut on 9 May (13).
Robert Downey, Jr.'s Marvel blockbuster Iron Man 3 made (£1.4 million) while kids' movie All Stars rounded out the top five with $1.6 million (£200,000).
The ‘Luther’ actor is one of the hot favourites to take over from Daniel Craig.
