Headline tour, live dates with Deap Vally and The Rolling Stones, and Reading and Leeds announcement as The Family Rain record debut album with Jim Abbiss
( Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) and drop new single.
"Pushing It" comes with a compressed guitar attack and crunching drums and does not have a scrap of fat on it. It's direct, thrilling, and the work of a band fast affirming themselves as one of the most exciting to emerge from the UK in years. The song was produced by Jim Abbiss (Peace, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) and recorded this February at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. It is the first taste of the band's album sessions and leads a new EP - entitled Pushing It - and follows the introductory singles Trust Me. I'm A Genius, and basement Carnival, which were released on the Bigger Splash label. The song was premiered by Zane Lowe on Radio One last week.
It's demonstrative of a band that knows how to harness their unique abilities, one that stems from their bond as brothers, all living in the same room under one roof in Bath. Live the band lay it all on the line. An unfiltered, joyous explosion of sound, they recall some of the classic, grittier sounds of rock's history.
Fresh from an extensive run across the UK and Europe with Willy Moon, The Family Rain will be playing with Deap Vally at The Scala on May 22nd, The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park on Saturday 13th July, as well as embarking on their first headline tour proper in the UK in May. The band have a string of festival appearances lined up over the summer, including Reading/Leeds, Pukkelpop in Belgium, and Germany's prestigious Hurricane and Southside Festivals.
The band will shortly be announcing their first hometown show since 2012.
