The Eagles' first studio album in 18 years has beaten Britney Spears' Blackout to the top of the UK album charts.

Long Road Out of Eden outsold the fallen pop princess' comeback record during their head-to-head first week of sales, knocking the Hoosiers' The Trick To Life off the top spot.

Three other new entries graced the album top ten. Daniel O'Donnell and Mary Duff entered at six with Together Again, Whitney Houston's The Ultimate Collection was new at five and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss came in at four with Raising Sand.

In the singles charts, X Factor winner Leona Lewis notched up a second week on top of the pile with the debut single from her new album.

Bleeding Love outsold Take That's Rule The World yet again, while the highest new entry was Westlife's Home.

The top five was rounded off by Mark Ronson, unmoving with his Amy Winehouse collaboration, and Timbaland, whose Apologize climbed from last week's seven to this week's four.
