LATEST: British rockers The Darkness have refused to feature their former bass player on their forthcoming album - despite his claims he co-wrote their eagerly awaited follow-up to PERMISSION TO LAND.

Guitarist Dan Hawkins will play all of the bass part on the band's second album even though FRANKIE POULLAIN says he helped compose the tracks before his departure in May 2005 over 'musical differences'.

A statement from The Darkness reads, "Frankie had yet to participate in the recording of the album when his exit from the band was announced."
