Warner Bros. expanded The Dark Knight Rises to 57 markets from 17 the previous weekend and boosted its overseas gross an additional $122.1 million, bringing its foreign total to $248.2 million. That's roughly half what 2008's The Dark Knight took in ($469 million). Meanwhile, Ice Age Continental Drift grossed $49.4 million in 69 markets, propelling it past he $500-million market to $514.1 million. Its predecessor, Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs grossed a total of $694 million abroad. Thanks to a $16.5 million debut in South Korea, director Choi Dong-hoon's The Thieves placed third internationally, just ahead of The Amazing SPIDER-MAN , which has earned $412.7 million since opening on June 27. It took in $12.2 million in its latest stanza. Rounding out the top five was Disney/Pixar's Brave , which the studio is rolling out slowly overseas. Currently playing in just 24 markets, the animated film earned $9.6 million over the weekend, to lift its foreign gross to $92 million.
