The Chevin's debut single 'Champion' is taken from their upcoming debut EP of the same name and will be released through Fierce Panda on October 31st, 2011.
The video for Champion was directed by Jon Danovic. Starting off with a warning about the use of strobe lighting, the video fires rapidly through a series of disjointed, unrelated, black and white images of random scenes: a house getting blown up, a notice about a nuclear bomb and the word 'love' flashing on the screen in many different languages. Glimpses of the band are also seen in the same jumpy quality that makes the song sound so rapid and manic.
The Chevin are Coyle Girelli (vocals), Mat Steel (guitar), Jon Langford (bass) and Mal Taylor (drums). Based in West Yorkshire, they share their name with the hill that lies on the outskirts of their hometown, Otley.
