The Cardigans risked incurring the wrath of fans by refusing to perform their flagship song Lovefool - in a bid to keep a grip on their sanity. The Swedish band's popularity dramatically rose after the release of 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet, which heavily featured the song on its soundtrack. But the group developed a deep hatred for Lovefool - and refused to play it live. Singer Nina Persson recalls, "We refused to play it for a long time. "People thought we were very snotty but we couldn't do it. If we had to play it again we'd have committed suicide."
