The Call Push On EP

"Push On" EP
Review

It would seem that for some people, Light Water Valley theme park and a trip to the races isn't enough – particularly for Ripon based quartet The Call. Like many students, they finished university still none-the-wiser with regards to getting a job, so began writing and rehearsing. They've since been played on XFM and Radio 1, and supported Leaves and Electric Shock Parade.

With a driving bass and sprightly guitar melody, the title track of this EP is a bright indie anthem with a 'classic' sound. The hook works like a charm, and Neil Chapman has a voice that's very easy on the ears. "Alone Tonight" picks up the tempo, again driven by the playing of bassist Stewart Corlett, while "Let's Keep This Quiet" sees The Call bringing out another sing-a-long chorus. Final track "You Need This Lie" is equally impressive, and identifies the band to have bags of potential who should be a big hit within the student population.
