Rihanna will take on her first animation film role in 'Happy Smekday'.

The 'You Da One' singer and 'The Big Bang Theory' actor Jim Parsons will lend their voices to the lead roles in the upcoming Dreamworks animation about a friendly alien race who invade the Earth in order to hide from their enemy.

Tim Johnson - who directed popular animation films 'Antz' and 'Over The Hedge' - is on board as director and Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember are writing the screenplay, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The 'E.T' singer - whose divorce from Russell Brand will be finalised in July - has developed an interest in other-worldly beings and wants to look beyond the Christian teachings imposed upon her by her pastor parents Keith and Mary Hudson during her childhood.

She said: ''I'm fascinated by that kind of stuff because of how I grew up, where everything was so black and white.

Alexander Skarsgard was impressed with Rihanna's ''work ethic'' on the set of 'Battleship'.

The 'True Blood' actor starred alongside the singer in the big screen adaptation of the classic boardgame and he was amazed at her professional she was, considering it was her first movie acting role.

He said: ''I was impressed by her work ethic. The Days are long on a movie and we had weekends off but she'd go to perform at award shows. It was her first big acting job and she was so enthusiastic.''

Harrison Ford could reprise his role in a new 'Blade Runner' film.

Ridley Scott, director of the original 1982 dystopian sci-fi film - loosely based on the book 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' by Philip K. Dick - has already signed on to the project, and is thought Harrison will be approached to also have a role.

In the original film Harrison played Richard Decker, a Blade Runner, who's job was to hunt down organic superhuman robots who had escaped from a colony planet to Earth.

Ridley Scott will direct the new 'Blade Runner' movie.

The 'Alien' director has signed up for the project - which he will make with Alcon Entertainment - although it is not clear whether he intends to do a prequel or sequel to the original 1982 film, Deadline.com reports.

The movie was loosely based on the Philip K. Dick book 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?' and starred Harrison Ford, who played blade runner Richard Decker assigned to hunt down organic superhuman robots who were living on Earth. However, his life changes when he falls for one of the enemies and struggles to keep her from being destroyed.

Michael Fassbender is to star in 'Prometheus'.

The 'Inglourious Basterds' actor has agreed to appear as an android opposite Noomi Rapace in the Ridley Scott-directed project, which was originally proposed as a prequel to the 'Alien' series of movies.

Confirmation of Michael's casting comes after negotiations and means the actor will not feature in 'Show White and the Huntsman', which he was previously in talks for.

Natalie Portman is favourite to be cast in Ridley Scott's upcoming 'Alien' prequel.

The 'Black Swan' actress would play an as-yet-unknown character in the movie, which has recently had a new screenplay drafted by Damon Lindelof turned into 20th Century Fox which they are said to be "very pleased with".

According to New York Magazine's Vulture blog, the 29-year-old star is favoured by Ridley Scott for a leading role, with 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' beauty Noomi Rapace second behind her.
