The 62-year-old co-directed and starred in the 1975 film, but is horrified by the sell-out stage adaptation by Eric Idle, his fellow member of legendary comedy troupe MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS.
And he's furious Idle is making more from the popular show than he or the other three surviving Pythons - John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, and MICHAEL PALIN - made from their TV shows and films made during the group's heydey.
He complains, "Spamalot is utterly pointless. It's full of air.
"We agreed a deal. If we'd known it was going to be such a success, we'd have asked for a better deal. Eric is making more from Spamalot than the rest of us ever made from Python.
"I like doing things I'm interested in. Regurgitating Python is not high on my list of priorities."06/05/2005 02:41
