Terrence Howard's third ex-wife has filed a subpoena to gain access to his contract for new Tv series Empire in a bid to force him to pay up in their ongoing spousal support battle.
Michelle Ghent claims the actor owes her $500,000 (£312,500) for missed payments and late fees after he failed to keep up with his responsibilities, outlined in their acrimonious divorce settlement last year (13).
Howard responded to the action in July (14) by asking a judge to throw their settlement deal out of court, insisting he was struggling to stay on top of his support responsibilities because he pays a large chunk of money to his first ex, Lori MCCommas, who he was married to twice, from 1989 to 2003, and again from 2005 to 2007.
He also alleges he has been working hard to settle a huge U.S. tax debt, which amounts to over $1 million (£625,000).
However, Ghent is convinced her former husband is simply lying about his financial issues and has now taken steps to prove he earns enough from Empire to afford to pay what he owes her in spousal support, according to Tmz.com.
She did some research online and alleges Howard earns $125,000 (£78,125) per episode on the hip-hop drama and has filmed three instalments so far, meaning he has banked more than enough to cut her a cheque to reduce his outstanding debt with her by at least half.
Ghent alleges the last payment she received was only for $2,000 (£1,250).
Empire, directed by Lee Daniels, is due to premiere on U.S. Tv in early 2015.
Howard has since moved on to his fourth wife, Miranda, who he wed last year (13). The couple is rumoured to be expecting its first child together.
