Actress Teri Hatcher decided to call her autobiography Burnt Toast because the phrase was her childhood metaphor for coping with whatever life throws at you. The DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star's memoirs, out today (02MAY06) in the US, were titled after a catchphrase her mother taught her as a kid. She writes: "If you go ahead and eat that blackened square of bread, then what you're really saying - to yourself and to the world - is that the piece of bread is worth more than your own satisfaction."
