Tegan and Sara unviled their new album 'Heartthrob' in London last night (06.02.13).

The Canadian duo performed at the Bloomsbury Lanes bowling alley in London to launch their seventh record, which has received a warm reception from critics and fans alike.

Speaking of their move to a more synth-pop sound, Tegan said: ''It didn't feel like taking a risk, more like an inevitable evolution.''

The sisters also explained how the record is still written about love, relationships and heartthrobs, put through the filter of pop producers, such as Greg Kurstin, who worked on the first single 'Closer'.

The pair - who supported The Killers on tour in Europe last year - performed some of the new tracks from 'Heartthrob' as well as a couple of old favourites for the crowd.

In between songs they explained how they now live on opposite sides of the country, with Sara in Montreal and New York and Tegan in Vancouver, and that it has helped them write in a more mature and reflective way.

'Heartthrob' will be released in Europe on Monday (11.02.13), a month after it was released in the US, where it became an instant hit, reaching number three in the Billboard Album chart.
