Ted Williams, the homeless man with the 'golden voice' who has been inundated with job offers since being discovered begging for change at the side of the highway, has agreed to enter rehab after speaking to psychologist and television host Dr Phil, reports the Los Angeles Times. Williams was involved in a physical altercation with his daughter on Monday (10th January 2011) and the YouTube sensation has admitted that has begun drinking again.
After a "lengthy one-on-one conversation" with DR PHIL, the 53-year-old and his family decided that he would enter a rehab facility. The television host, often known as Phil Mcgraw, said in a statement, "If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol. I've told him it's not going to be easy and it's going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction". Williams and his daughter Janey were detained by police on Monday following a disturbance at the Hollywood Renaissance hotel, however, no charges were filed.
Segments of the DR PHIL show featuring Williams and his ex-wife Patricia are due to air today (12th January 2011).
